We Install Sheetrock

In Jersey City's Homes

Last month, I walked into a client's Hamilton Park brownstone where another contractor had attempted sheetrock installation. The seams were visible, corners weren't square, and the homeowner looked defeated. "I thought all drywall contractors were the same," she told me. That's when I realized how many Jersey City property owners don't know what proper sheetrock installation actually looks like.

At Jersey City Drywall, we've been perfecting our sheetrock installation techniques across neighborhoods from Newport to Journal Square for over a decade. Whether you're renovating a historic Paulus Hook townhouse or finishing a basement in Bergen-Lafayette, our installation process goes beyond just hanging sheets. We measure twice, cut once, and tape every seam like it's going in our own homes. The difference shows in walls that stay crack-free for years.

Sheetrock Installation Process

Drywall installation is a multi-step process that requires careful planning and execution. We'll walk you through the key stages involved in creating smooth, sturdy walls for your home or office space.

1. Preparation and Planning

Before we begin installation, proper preparation is crucial. We measure the room dimensions accurately and calculate the amount of drywall needed. This includes accounting for doors, windows, and electrical outlets. We select the appropriate drywall thickness based on the specific requirements of each room.

2. Installation Techniques

We begin by cutting the drywall sheets to fit the wall dimensions. Using a utility knife and T-square, we make precise cuts for a snug fit. We lift and position each sheet carefully, starting from the ceiling and working our way down.

3. Finishing Touches

Once the drywall is installed, we focus on creating a smooth surface. We apply joint compound (mud) over the seams and screw holes in multiple thin layers. Between each layer, we sand the surface to achieve a perfectly flat finish.
